Rotary Lunch Program: Bend Park and Recreation District

On Tuesday, November 15 2022, our lunch program will be a presentation from Julie Brown and her team at Bend Park and Recreation District.

Julie is the communication and community relations manager at Bend Park and Recreation District. She’s also a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Bend. She’s been with BPRD for 6 years. Before working in parks and rec, Julie was the media relations director at the University of Oregon, her alma mater, for 9 years. She and her husband are busy raising two daughters. She’s a novice greenhouse gardener and a slow-but-steady runner.   Julie Brown

We all love some aspect of the great outdoors in Central Oregon and there are probably only a few who haven’t floated the Deschutes at least once or visited at least one of Bend’s many parks. Bend’s parks and recreational facilities are a big part of what makes Bend a great place to live. Keeping these resources in prime shape for a growing population, without breaking the bank, and sustaining the natural spaces for generations to come takes forethought and planning. Julie and several other Park & Rec staff will join us to talk about their efforts related to water conservation, drought impacts and adjustments, natural resource management, and the use of alternative power sources in their efforts to keep Bend recreating.
