Cort rode 47 miles on the West Orange Trail to train for Rotary’s Ride to End Polio.

A team from our club helped beautify our city on October 14th, working on the roundabout at 9th and Newport Avenue.

Bob Thomas, Pat Cougill, Jeff Tilley, Lisa Dobey, Tom Combs, Mark Capell, Bob Chamberlain, Heather Vihstadt, and Brian Shawver participated in the cleanup work.

Our friend and fellow Greater Bend Rotarian, Cort Vaughn, will be riding a metric century (100 kilometers/62 miles) in the Ride to End Polio fundraiser.

Cort says:

I am a Polio survivor. Polio paralyzed my right leg at the age of 2. I endured years of physical therapy and multiple surgeries. Now I walk with a brace. I want to help create a Polio free world where no child will ever again suffer from Polio and parents will no longer live in fear.

I volunteer with Rotary as the Zone 25 End Polio Now Coordinator representing N. California, N. Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.

This week, Bethlehem Inn is celebrating the groundbreaking for the rebuilding of their Families Residence and Service Hub.

The event is this Thursday, September 7th, at 4:15PM, at 3705 N Highway 97, Bend.

On Tuesday, September 12th, we’ll be having our annual Family Picnic. Social hour starts at 5PM, with dinner (consisting of BBQ, sodas, and cookies) starting at 6PM. Please BYOB.
