Bruce Abernethy will share information about his 2023 travels to Nepal with a few Interact students. Jamie Garza will give a brief presentation on our club’s international project.
In August, Bruce traveled to Nepal for three weeks as part of a delegation with Ten Friends, a Sisters-based nonprofit that supports a girls boarding school, an orphanage, and the development of libraries in rural villages. The co-founder and Bruce were the two adult chaperones and they took five high school students with them (3 from Sisters HS and 2 from the Summit HS Interact Club). Rotary Lunch Speaker: Erik Berglund – Language of Leadership
On Tuesday, December 12, our lunch speaker will be Erik Berglund from The Language of Leadership.
Upon graduating from Bend high in 2002, Erik didn’t see a path to living here and pursuing a career. He didn’t see how a local kid could make enough to buy a home and raise a family in an economy built on boom/bust construction and tourism. He’s passionate about changing that for his daughters, and works with business owners who will make that a reality by bringing more career options and higher paying jobs to the community. He’s a business coach, Interim CxO, and founder of the Language of Leadership. |
He helps business owners build out the systems, processes, and products they need to scale, and then exit their businesses. He helps owners and executives grow as leaders, by focusing on the words they use to lead their people. He helps them get their time back by developing the talent already on their team. When he’s not doing these things, he spends most of his time with two daughters (7 and 4), dog (Myka) and his awesome wife.
