Lunch Speaker: John Topogna, President of ECONorthwest

  On Tuesday, June 11th 2019, our lunch speaker will be John Tapogna, President of ECONorthwest. John oversees the firm’s overall business strategy. Since his arrival at ECONorthwest in 1997, John has built consulting practices in education, healthcare, human service, and tax policy. The education practice is organized around the use of student-level data to evaluate programs for clients including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Lumina Foundation, Idaho’s Albertson Family Foundation, and Oregon’s Chalkboard Project. John also led the design and development of award-winning software tools in nine states that help low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, and veterans understand their eligibility for safety-net programs.

Prior to joining ECONorthwest, John served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Chile and was an Analyst at the U.S. Congressional Budget Office, where he estimated the cost of key congressional legislation. He holds degrees from the University of Oregon and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

End of Year Dinner for Juanfe

Next week, we’re having an end-of-the-year dinner party on Tuesday June 4 both to honor Juanfe for being such an awesome exchange student – and – to recognize and thank the host families who have played such an instrumental role in his time here in Bend and the US.

This is a benefit dinner to raise money for Juanfe’s year-end trip later in June.

It will be held at the Deschutes Brewery Mountain Room (3rd floor of their Simpson Avenue facilities) and we anticipate starting around 6:00. Food will be catered by Hola. His parents will be there.

If you haven’t signed up for the dinner yet, there might still be room – contact Bruce Abernethy (abernethy9@aol.com) to see if there’s space left.

NOTE: there will be NO LUNCH MEETING at the Riverhouse this week.
